This version of the lamp includes a rechargeable 1.25 Ah (4.6 Wh) hybrid battery. The hybrid battery and battery case are included. On all Trail Runner Free headlamps, the power cable is integrated into the headband. Silva calls this Free Technology – a comfortable headlamp experience without disturbing cables.
The hybrid battery case can be used with either Silva's rechargeable hybrid battery or with AAA batteries. The case has grip-friendly surfaces and an integrated red safety light – which contributes to extra visibility. The Trail Runner Free 2 Hybrid comes with the rechargeable 1.25Ah hybrid battery – developed to be used with the Hybrid battery case. This compact battery is the perfect choice if you want to aim for really low weight. The battery has an integrated battery indicator and is charged with the included USB cable.
With the 2nd generation of Trail Runner Free, cooling has been optimized with the help of a more powerful heatsink, which means that the lamp can deliver up to 550 lumens (depending on battery type) while maintaining its flexibility. Silva's ultrarunners have been an important part of the development work and running has been in focus in the development of every small detail of the lamps. All models in the Trail Runner Free series are equipped with Silva Intelligent Light. This means that the headlamp has dual light sources so that you get both strong long-distance illumination and a soft and pleasant light where you place your feet. This results in a more comprehensive light pattern and fewer head movements when you run, so you can focus on your running. With Silva Intelligent Light, you also reduce the risk of fatigue and tension headaches due to a shaky light pattern.
Although the Trail Runner Free series is best known for the innovation of Free Technology, Silva has not forgotten the most basic – weight and ergonomic fit. Every component of the headlamp has been optimized and the lamp unit itself, including the headband, weighs only 61 grams. The Trail Runner Free 2 is light and well-balanced, with smooth adjustment options and a flat, soft extension cable that won't tangle. The headband is soft but stays firmly in place thanks to a thin silicone string on the inside of the headband. The battery can be easily mounted on the headband or kept warm in your pocket to maximize battery life by using the included extension cable. Choose the Trail Runner Free 2 Hybrid with the Hybrid battery case and Silva's rechargeable hybrid battery if you aim to use the headlamp regularly for training sessions. You can always supplement with 3 AAA batteries if you are going to be away for several days and do not have the opportunity to charge the battery during that time.
